About UMSTA
The UMSTA is a Theoretic Islamic school of higher learning that is set up to meet the needs of those we wish to grasp a pure and true Divine doctrine of Islam which is derived from the philosophy, concepts, opinions, ideas of Prophet Drew Ali. With the understanding and the knowledge of the very lessons of Islam, Nationality and Positive Law that The Beloved Prophet Drew Ali has left for those who are true in spirit to receive them, as this is the place for you.
The UMSTA is set up to teach those things that are necessary in living a clean, moral, and spiritually guided life. Our graduates are equipped with an understanding of the pure faith of Islam, Religious History, Nationality and Positive Law. Were they could find themselves in a rewarding and faith filled career in many fascists of Uplifting Fallen Humanity.
The UMSTA was founded by The Grand Council of Governors in February of 2006 originally designed as a school to educate Moorish Moslem within the Moorish Science Temple of America (1928 portion) as in giving a complete in-depth study on the subjects of Islam, Nationality, Religious History and Positive Law. It has been apparent over many decades the True and Divine teachings of Prophet Drew Ali has been left dormant which is why today there is much speculative , contradiction and false information about The Moorish Science Temple of America and the life, works and teachings of Prophet Drew Ali. More so causing the present generation of those who claim to be Moorish American Moslems or those who wish to study the faith of Islam in its true form from a Moorish Perspective, have been left with no traceable solidified knowledge on the Philosophies; and Opinions of that of Prophet Drew Ali.
Presently there are only two legitimate Moorish Science Temple of America faction that possess original documentations and artifacts that date back during the time of Prophet Drew Ali ; which we represent one of the two. It has always been the true measure of the MSTA-1928 National Leadership in discontinuing the furtherance of sheer ignorance of Moorish Americans by allowing the true historical accounts of The Moorish Science Temple of America and pure teaching of Prophet Drew Ali taught in a formal educational structured environment and a well discipline setting such as the UMSTA.
Our University stands on the foundation of strong Islamic faith and values, for those who leave from our doors as graduates will have not only gained Divine knowledge of Islam and History as it relates to the so-called African-Americans today, but they would be able to make informed decision based on sound proofs, logical deduction, and spiritual enlightenment.

Moorish Islamic Studies is based of The Divinely Inspired set of Principles, Philosophies, Opinions, Ideas, Conception as given to Moorish Americans by Prophet Drew Ali. The relation of Sufism as being the form of Islamic practices of Moorish Moslem's. Understanding varies religious books in its relations to what is true and what is false. Having a truthful understanding of the religoius canons of The Moorish Science Temple of America.
Religion and Literature / Explores the implicit and explicit religious themes that are found in works of literature from a variety of genres, with a full concentration on the literature of Prophet Drew Ali. Special attention paid to issues of "world construction" and narrative, as well as the problematic distinction between fact and fiction.
Religious Psychology & Religious Counseling /
An introduction to the Islamic concepts of the Deen and Da`wah as to a concise understanding of its moral and spiritual development to the nature of religious consciousness. Topics include psychological theories of the origin of religion; ancient and modern techniques for the "cure of broken spirits"; religion and the life cycle; religion and depth psychology; religion and social psychology.
Religious Theology/ An introduction to various approaches that have characterized the modern and postmodern critical study of religion. The course explores the development of the field as a whole and its interdisciplinary nature. The first part of the course focuses on approaches found in disciplines such as anthropology, sociology, psychology and phenomenology. The second part examines the application of these approaches to the study of several religious phenomenon.
NATIONALITY & LAW: How it relates to one reclaiming that which was taken away in 1776. Citizenship, Statehood, Government; all that relates to the Governmental structure of the Moorish National and Divine Movement (MNDM). Understanding the concepts and theory of Nation building. How we are within the same type of structure as the Vatican States of Rome. Knowing what it means to be a "Member" and a "Citizen" of the MSTA/MNDM. A full and complete brake down of the "Moorish Science Temple of American Divine Constitution and By-Laws".
Nationality and Islamic Jurisprudence / The social and legal structure of Islam in its accounts to the varies observation to law and how it governs within the social and political structures of its society and it influences within the Moorish Divine & National Movement. Understanding the philosophies of Nationhood as expressed by Marcus Garvey.
Constitutional Law / An examination of the distribution of and limitations upon governmental authority under the Divine Constitution and By-Laws and the Additional Laws. Included are study of the doctrine of judicial review of legislative and executive action, the powers of the Grand Body, Supreme Grand Council, and the Supreme Grand Sheik/Supreme Grand Chairman, the limitations on regional/Moorish state governmental powers resulting from the existence or exercise of Legislative power, and Judicial protection (SGC) against the exercise of governmental power in violation of rights, liberties, privileges, or immunities conferred by the Divine Constitution and By-Laws.
Legal Analysis, Research and Writing
An introductory study of the various forms of legal writing and modes of legal research from the Moorish American perspective. Through an integrated approach to writing and research, the course begins by analyzing the components of fatwa/judicial opinions and ends with the students independently researching and writing a sophisticated appellate brief. The principal goal of this course is the mastery of the basic tools of legal analysis, the principles of legal writing, and the techniques of legal research.
Islamic Law Overview / Unlike the European-American legal system, which is secular, Islamic Law is of a religious nature. Islam is both a religion and a social order. As such it comprises devotional obligations as well as rules regulating the civil and commercial relations among individuals, and these two types of rules are of a Divine origin. The origins of Islamic Law, its sources and various schools of Islamic jurisprudence will be discussed as an introduction to the course. The course will then explore several substantive areas of Islamic Law including constitutional law, contract and tort law, property, banking law, international law, crimes and punishments, family law and successions and wills. These areas will be examined through a study of the various cases where Islamic Law has been debated in European-American courts, whether as a foreign law in accordance with the rules of conflict of laws, or as a religious law which must be interpreted before their courts apply their Law.
